Privacy Policy
Effective October 1, 2026
My Personal Gauge (“the app”) is made by Kenneth Edstrand, doing business as Lastwords Labs, in California, USA (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the app does with your information.
The short version: we don't collect your data. What you put in the app is stored on your devices and in your own iCloud account, and it's shared only with people you choose. There are no ads, no analytics, and no tracking.
What the app stores, and where
The app keeps the following:
- your check-ins (a 0–100 value, the date and time, and an optional note)
- your gauges and their settings (names, faces, and colors)
- the name you enter for yourself
- an optional profile picture
- your app preferences
This information is stored on your device and synced to your devices through your own iCloud account, using Apple's CloudKit service. It's kept in your private iCloud storage, which we can't access. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Your profile picture stays on the device where you set it, unless you share a gauge with it turned on (see below).
Sharing with people you choose
You can share a gauge with people you invite, using Apple's iCloud sharing. The people you share a gauge with can see:
- your latest check-in and the gauge's history from when you started sharing (or earlier, if you turn on “Include earlier check-ins”)
- your notes, except notes you mark “Exclude this note when sharing”
- your display name
- your profile picture, unless you turn off “Share My Profile Picture”
- the gauge's name, face, color, and display settings
Shared data goes through iCloud directly to the people you invite. It doesn't pass through any server of ours. You can stop sharing or remove a person at any time, and they'll lose access to that gauge.
Notifications
Check-in reminders are scheduled on your device. When someone shares a gauge with you, iCloud can notify you of their check-ins. Those notifications are delivered by Apple's push notification service, and their text is written on your device. You can turn notifications off in the app or in iOS Settings.
Widgets
Widgets show your gauges and the gauges shared with you. They read this information from storage on your device that only the app and its widgets can access.
Feedback emails
If you email us, including through “Send Feedback” in the app, we receive your email address and whatever you write. The app fills in the app version, the iOS version, and your device model so we can look into problems. You can see these details, and remove them, before you send. We use your email only to respond and to improve the app, and we don't share it with anyone.
What we don't do
- We don't run servers that collect your information, and we don't have accounts.
- We don't use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking tools, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
- We don't sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
Purchases
If the app offers subscriptions or in-app purchases, Apple handles payment. We never see your payment details. Apple only tells the app what you've purchased, so it can unlock those features.
Deleting your data
You can delete check-ins and gauges in the app. To remove everything:
- Delete the app from your devices.
- Remove its iCloud data: on iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, then Manage Account Storage (or Storage), then My Personal Gauge.
Because we don't hold your data, there's nothing for us to delete on our side, apart from any emails you've sent us. We'll delete those if you ask.
Children
The app isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your California privacy rights
California residents have rights under the CCPA and CalOPPA, including the right to know about, delete, and correct personal information, and to opt out of its sale. Since we don't collect personal information through the app, the only information we might hold is email you've sent us. Write to the address below to make a request. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.
The app doesn't track you, so it doesn't respond differently to browser “Do Not Track” signals.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll post the new version on this page with a new effective date. If the change is significant, we'll also note it in the app's release notes.
